You know you want to play Archeage, you just don’t know where to begin. The class system is unique, but also kind of confusing. Where on Earth should you start with Archeage builds? If this is your first time jumping in then it is nice to have a few pointers to set you off facing in the right direction. So read on to find an Archeage guide designed to help you find your footing in this incredible free-to-play MMORPG.
Choosing the best class
Archeage Unchained seems very much like any other MMO way up to the class selection… Why, you ask? Well, unlike other MMOs, you won’t be able to choose a class right from the start. Instead, you’ll get to choose a Faction (Nuia or Haranya), race and main skill set.
There are over 100 classes in the game, which might be overwhelming, but worry not, I got you! My fail-proof tip is to start off as one of the overall stronger, but easy to use classes. Then, once you get the hang of it, change it to a really OP character.
Forget the shiny armor
Alrighty, you’ve got your awesome CHAR and started the game. What armor should you get? Well, the answer is none! Up until level 50, it is both expensive and unnecessary to buy armor. Don’t worry, you won’t be left in your undies. When you start, after a few quests, you’ll get a full set or armor. Here you’ll get to choose between cloth, leather or plate.
When you start leveling, the first thought in your head may be to switch armor. WRONG! Along with the initial armor, the main quests will give you Synthesis potions. These potions let you to upgrade your armor or weapon all the way to level 50. All you have to do is to click “Gear Upgrade” on your inventory, and select the potion and the gear you want to upgrade. And always remember to extract the potions before destroying or selling your gear!
Don’t skip the yellows!
Oh God, yellow quests everywhere! What to do? Just do them, as they were designed to speed level your character into level 30 in less than an hour. So, unless you’re planning on grinding mobs for endless hours, just do the nasty little buggers. Some of them will reward you with awesome pets, mounts, gliders and even boats!
Slow 30’s
When you hit level 30, you will begin to notice that the game’s pace slows down drastically. This is where the questing mission really begins. I suggest you open the options menu and, under game info, set the bottom option to “unlimited”. This will make sure you will see ALL zone quests, and I recommend you do them all first, before focusing on the main quest.
Choosing The Farmer Life
By this time, you’re probably excited to get to those level 50-55 boss monsters and alliance raids. But before you get to those, you should really give yourself some time to do the Blue Salt Brotherhood questline. This questline will get you your own farm and a buttload of XP. Plus, you’ll also get to learn about the basics of all professions, like crafting and fishing: more on that later!
Getting to level 55
Finally reached level 45? That’s awesome and I’ve got good news for you: you don’t need to spam those yellow quests anymore! From 45 to 55, the best (and quickest) way to level up is to teleport to Aegis Island (which will cost you 5 gold, so get working) and start grinding those mobs, alongside other players. I strongly recommend partying up with a healer and a DPS. After that, it’s time to slay some beasts!
Time For a Glow Up!
Now that you’re actually pretty leveled up, you’ll need to replace the effects on your gear. To do this, you’ll need to buy Evenstone (the adventure ones, not that cheap replacement) and extract the Awakening scrolls and infusions. Then just go to the armor and weapon merchant, re-purchase the base questing gear you want, and reuse the scrolls and infusions on the new gear. I won’t lie to you and tell you it’s cheap, but I can definitely promise that it’ll be worth it in the long run.
Get your labor ON!
Well, my “expertise” and excessive confidence say that the first thing you should do is put your Labor points to good use. That’s right, you have to get off your adventurous ass and do some real work. You can put your farm to good use, dig and cut those veggies you find along the way, craft, fish, and so on: whatever floats your boat. And, if you really don’t want to do it, then just go to any scarecrow in a housing area and craft tax certificates. That way, you’ll spend Labor points, get a lot of XP and you can just keep them until you need them later on – which you will.
