Life by design: A creative plan for life | Medha Priya | TEDxGPREC

In this talk, our speaker Medha Priya speaks about the differences between planning and designing in the context of life choices and career paths. The speech chronicles her personal journey of ultimately finding her passion in the sustainability sector. Medha Priya is a designer, architect & climate warrior who has been fighting climate change by climate education initiatives. She is also one of the 17 young leaders of the United Nations ‘We The Change’ campaign that was announced recently ahead of COP26, the 2021 United Nations Climate Conference.

Medha followed her calling and graduated as an Architect in 2018. During the course, she realized how construction activities cause harm to the planet and started to explore the space of sustainable development and climate education. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community.

Congratulations Graduates!

It’s graduation season – and I know so many of us are thinking of the graduating students we know, and the sense of accomplishment, excitement, and nervousness they’re feeling right now.

Every May, I think back to MY time as a student at the University of Arkansas. I’ll never forget sitting in the back row of Dr. Jonathan L. Johnson's Business Strategy class, soaking up the knowledge and insights he had to offer. Although apparently not ALL of it, since I got a ‘B’ in the class!

Dr. Johnson and I are friends to this day, even though we still like to give each other a hard time about that ‘B.’ He joined me for this episode of The Huddle, and brought three of his most outstanding students – Sophia, Laurel, and Ali – who are all graduating with their MBAs this month. We talked about their experiences, their career goals and how they hope to apply the skills they've learned in class in the “real world.” We even had a little fun giving them a chance to take over The Huddle and ask me some questions.

If you’re an upcoming graduate or navigating the next steps in your own career, this episode is for you. And to all the graduates out there – congratulations! I’m rooting for you, and can’t wait to see the positive impact you’ll make in the world.

We got an inside look at how Army Culinary Specialists are trained at the Joint Culinary Center of Excellence at Fort Lee, Virginia.

Three to four thousand members of the Army and National Guard graduate every year from the eight-week course, which trains soldiers how to prepare a wide array of food in a variety of settings. After instruction in the techniques of cooking and baking, trainees prepare three meals a day for their fellow soldiers in an actual garrison kitchen.

Training culminates outdoors, where trainees cook for hundreds of soldiers in the same mobile kitchens they could be cooking in if deployed. Insider spent five days at the Joint Culinary Center of Excellence, where we observed different classes at various stages of training.
